The 16 year wait for a new B-52's album will be over on March 25. That is when the Athens, Georgia band will release 'Funplex', the follow-up to 1992's 'Good Stuff'.
B-52's started work on the record in 2003. It has been 5 years in the making but promises to be indicative of the B-52's sound.
'Funplex' was produced by Steve Osborne (New Order).
In between 'Good Stuff' and 'Funplex', The B-52's rarely had new music. Their last song was from The Flintstones movie where they appeared as The BC-52's and contributed to the soundtrack.
Singer Fred Schneider released two solo albums during the gap and also worked with Sophie Ellis-Bextor on her third album.
Kate Pierson sang with Japanese band NiNa and both her and Cindy Wilson sang on Junior Senior's 'Take My Time'.
'Funplex' will be released on Astralwerks, through EMI.
The tracklisting is:
Pump Hot Corner Ultraviolet Juliet of the Spirits Funplex Eyes Wide Open Love in the Year 3000 Deviant Ingredient Too Much to Think About Dancing Now Keep This Party Going

Got the new volta today, I love the first half, second half not so much, but it may grow on me, we'll see. There are a lot of interesting themes running thru it, but some of the songs have so much going on not technically necessarilly but just ridiculous amounts of thins being played and dont seem to go anywhere like Cavalettas. But yeah loving the first half, the groove at the end of aberinkula sucked me right in

Really? ... thats so sad when record companies do that. Because then they create it with crap artwork, crap list of songs ... and everybody buys it.

yeah...
just out of curiosity, who released these cd versions of in rainbows that all the record stores have???
It still pisses me off how radiohead do the whole 'as good as free' thing on the net and gain heaps of props for it when th pumpkins and others did it fucking 7 years ago. THEN they go out and release it anyways, some sort grand guesture eh?

And this is released by EMI when radiohead are no longer with them, rather then trying to get rid of them.

You Am I new LP in sights
The rock group You Am I have rashly set a date of April 14 to start recording their new LP "I'm Proud Of My Gay Son". Songs currently in construction include "Let's Be Dreadful" "Amateur Night" "Davey's Gone Green Again" "Frightfully Modern" "Worth More Dead" "Do It" "Erasmus" and "Paolozzi's Tourbook". All decisions regarding the why's wherefore's and how much for's of the LP have been left in the hands of the group's newly assigned svengali Humphrey Blessington. The haughty nature with which this information is being given should not detract from the fact that the group believes the record will be a fucking cracker.

I listened to it about 4 times on the flight home, love it so much. I got the Limited Edition. Doesn't come with anything extra Steve, just the packaging is different. Full lyric booklet, CD has its own cardboard sleeve and its in a harder cardboard case.
