Cordrazine are playing tomorrow (19/09/08) headlining Rubber Records 20th birthday bash at Northcote Town Hall - onstage at 11pm.
I may be there, shouting obscenities at their sultry keyboardist.

When I read that last night I was just thinking "I totally llove Robert speaking out like that!" ... telling it like it is! I've totally loved how The Cure have released their new album.

woah, question mark overload. i've always wanted to get into them more but never really got around to it, i guess i should just start with their greatest hits?

There's also a 3 disc set for about $20 which has greatest hits, videos and acoustic versions of the tracks.
I went pretty headlong into the cure though, i just got Disintegration and Wish on a recommendation and havent looked back

Oh yeah forgot about that set Jimmy For me I had the 2 singles collections, then my first Cure album was 'Wild Mood Swings' ... often seen as a poor album ... but its still one of my personal favs ... certain blue_june girl made me fall in love with Jupiter Crash ...

Still dont have wild mood swings, i dont like mint car that much the other singles ok though the lime green and tangerine one, can never remember what its called. Its funny how that latest greatest hits thing just completely disregards bloodflowers and pornography- looking for hits?? keep walking ahah.
Good albums to get you into the cure: Wish- 90's alternative stuff, immediately awesome. contains friday im in love & high
Head on the Door- their pop album, where robert decided he'd had enough of being a crazy heroin addict and tried to be happy... even though the songs are still dark, theyre all wrapped in lovely sunshine wrapping. contains Close to Me, In Between Days, A Night Like This & Push
Disintegration- Their best album imo, takes a while longer to get into, but pays huge dividends, actually one of my all time favourite records, up in top ten at least. Pictures of You, Lovesong, Lullaby, Fascination Street.
Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me- probably not the album to start with, its overlong, very eclectic and a bit hit and miss but the best songs are amazing. Just Like Heaven, Why Can't I Be You, If Only Tonight I Could Sleep, The Kiss, Hot Hot Hot.
Do not start with Pornography, even though its almost their best album its pretty much inpenitrable to begin with

Yeah Wild Mood Swings is a tricky one, and an odd one to start with. I can understand why it doesn't sit well with the rest of the Cure ... it has some really kooky pop songs on it - like Mint Car ... but for me I love that song to death. The Cure are just like SP when it comes to sounds, songs and genres. Give Wild Mood Swings a chance though. This Is A Lie, Gone!, Numb, Jupiters Crash, Treasure ... all great songs ... some are Roberts darkest stuff. (Im listening to Treasure at the moment ... wonderful). And I agree with jimmy's descriptions of the other records too ... and the ones to start with. and Kez ... I still have some Cure CD's for you ... (sorry they've taken so long)

I recoiled in fear when his eyes met mine during the figurehead, his gaze felt like it was piercing thru me. He's such a lovely little guy though, I think i may have mentioned here a while ago, my friend met him on the bloodflowers tour and he was with his parents

I recoiled in fear when his eyes met mine during the figurehead, his gaze felt like it was piercing thru me. that's how i felt when Billy was staring straight at me on TFE tour, i freaked out wanted to look away but it was fucking Billy! for you guys who are Cure fans, what do you think of Bloodflowers? i've been meaning to buy it for years because it was named as an influence on a ND album but never got around to it....

I love Bloodflowers, it has one of my person favourite songs ... The Last Day of Summer. Its a very slow, epic record ... I saw the Cure on the Bloodflowers tour, it was a tour where they focused mainly on the music from the record. I guess like SP and the Adore tour. ... there isn't much that I don't like by The Cure ... and the new songs for the new album ... OH MY GOD I'm in love! (heheh I'm in love and its Friday ... geddit - ... ok lame)

Yeah Bloodflowers is really good, but its another one of their albums that has no real obvious hits, slow and epic is a good description.
Theres what's considered to be a conceptual trilogy comprising of Pornography (1983), Disintegration (1989) and Bloodflowers (2000) And they're all really deep dark works, Disintegration has a couple of points of relief with the singles, but the mood stays pretty full on throughout. I actually have difficulty listening to Pornography because of how dark it is, especially Siamese Twins and The Figurehead, its like Baudelaire put to music.
Like sunks says though, there isnt much by the cure that isnt amazing, theres just bits that are less amazing i guess... I dont like 'The Top' that much, thats probably the only weak point in their career though

I was really looking forward to not having to pay any money to go to soundwave next year and then that happened. bah, NIN AiC (although im still kinda reserved about them continuing with their new singer) and scars on broadway. freh, I went this year cause id never seen incubus, twas fun, but irritating because they just pull the old nostalgia acts to headline then the rest is emo/screamo/metal
