So anyway... am i going blind, or has the melb v thread vanished? Yeah I was wondering why there is no thread for it?! Maybe Billy cracked it about people pissing him off at the shows and hacked into the site and took it down!

I did get stuck in the kiddie seats due to not thinking when buying my tickets. Never again, definitely not the best place to enjoy a concert. Overall it was an excellent show. Highlights for me were Today, Mayonnaise and Stand Inside Your Love.
My girlfriend took some footage of Billy dissing Adelaide I thought I'd share with you:

Someone mentioned that they thought Billy had a sore neck, we all thought so too. He was rubbing his neck alot, especially during My Blue Heaven. We were singing Bullet With Butterfly Wings in the kiddie section, guess we wern't loud enough. We had a pretty good view from the cage; I couldn't see Jimmy except for a symbol, but I had a great view of Lisa. We waited about half an hour to stand up, we didn't want to block the people behind us. But after Superchrist *squee!*, there was no way I was sitting back down! I had to explain who Jesse was to my friends, it was so great to see him! He looked like he was really enjoying himself. It was a real pity about That's The Way (talking) I really loved the acoustic version, I teared up a bit actually. The sound wasn't the greatest from the kiddie section, Billy sounded a bit washed out at times. But it was worth it, being called rats in a cage. XD I thought Billy was in a great mood, despite the walk off. About water wasting "You guys got caught washing your cars, didn't you?" I never realised how tiny Ginger is! The band was fantastic and I was a bit suprised that Billy din't really introduce everyone. Overall, my first pumpkins gig definatly rates as my favourite gig EVER. It only took me about 12 years to see my favouritest band; it was worth the wait. XD

Im going to piss a lot of a people off here but i dont care, i think you are all sucks! I went to the Vfest show yesterday & it was 10 times better than festival hall.
1. Festival Hall is a terrible venue, it needs to be knocked over, its a shit warehouse in a dirty party of melbourne!
2. My Blue Heaven is a shit song to play at a concert like that, only TRUE fans would really know the song... and its not even their song in the end. Plus its not very aurally pleasing.
3. NO ENCORE - we got jibbed
4. Set the controls went on for ever & so many people seemed to be bored!
5. United States is the worst song on the new album, terrible song to end with. Most casual fans would have no idea about the song or enjoy listening to it. Plus it was dragged out way too long
6. The crowd wasn't getting into it enough, the vibe in there was very low.
PROS 1. Hearing Drown was excellent. 2. Behold! The Nightmare was played very well (i initally thought it would be a weird song to play) 3. Ava Adore sounded awesome like that 4. Mayonaise is one of their best songs ever (i would have loved to hear Soma aswell)
All in all i was happy to see them because it had been 10 years since I had last time, but it wasnt the best show for a casual fan. I had a few complaints from friends who were there...
Saturday @ Vfest was 10 times better... and they fact that they played ZERO!!!! made my day, i never expected that! Everyone got into it, plus we heard Hummer & Cherub Rock.

This is my 1st post of hopefully many here but i have to agree with him here. As much as i enjoyed the whole show on friday night, being the best musical experience of my life, for the non hardcore fan which i assume most of you people are my blue heaven is an unknown song. Not saying it is a bad song at all infact im growing to like it. That being said it frustrates me to no end that people would talk during it. its just plain rude!!! im really disapointed that i didnt get to hear muzzle coz of some idiots in the crowd. Saturday night slightly made up for it but still would have loved to hear muzzle.
On Friday I was in the front row right infront of billy just a bit to the right and the people in that part of the crowd were really getting into it and it wasnt until i logged onto here that i realised how bad it was in the other parts of the crowd. I think i talked to a few of you when lining up at door 6. I was 4th in line with 2 other guys waiting from about miday to get front row. Anyways you guys have been a great source of information over the past couple of weeks and i thank you and it was until today that i registered. sorry for spying

My girlfriend took some footage of Billy dissing Adelaide I thought I'd share with you: that makes me so sad. and angry with stupid adelaide concert goers. I don't think it was quite accurate. I'm pretty sure he said something in Adelaide like 'Do you like the old songs?' then everyone started cheering which he chose to interpret as the crowd not liking the new songs. I could be wrong, and I'm sure someone's got footage to settle it.

Most casual fans would have no idea about the song or enjoy listening to it. So when are they supposed to play the songs for the more hardcore fans? Do two sideshows in each city, one for casual and one for hardcore on top of their vfest shows?

Right. I can tell you what I heard from the man himself at our chance lunchtime meeting on the day of the Melbourne V Fest. Basically, he said that at every gig there are the same people wanting the old songs that they're familiar with and don't fucking care about any of the new stuff. He then said that these people are usually the 'posers' and bought a ticket because they used to like them back in the day or just wanted to say that they got to see Smashing Pumpkins in concert. To quote Billy: 'I do a solo show - no-one gives a shit, the Pumpkins do a show - suddenly everyone gives a shit.' He said that you can't please anyone and the band just want to play and record music that they're proud of and that's what they're doing.
I think the band is at that point with the touring that they are just going to play what they want to play and not what some douche who hasn't even listened to Zeitgeist is yelling at them during a gig.
Seriously people, let the band play what they want to play - don't be a moron yelling out 'PLAY DISARM!' - Billy's not your fucking jukebox and the band didn't have to come here at all so you're very lucky and privileged to have seen them.

Anahedonia makes a very good point.
Plus you can't really complain about the presence of 'obscure' songs in a 2-hr/+ show when you've got 1979, Tonight, BWBW, etc anyway.

Billy spoke of the TV generation, and the fact that the crowd is so up and down, they tune in for the one song they know (say 'Tonight, Tonight') and go off their nut, then as soon as the next song starts and they dont know it and/or its mellow (say 'Thats The Way') they switch off. Why dont you all listen to these new songs and try and appreciate hearing a new song rather than just thinking that its crap because you havent heard it before!
It concerns him that there are big fans at the gigs who are having to put up with these 'posers' and he is working on ways to have gigs that are a more musical experience, for those of us who are there to listen to the music they have to play, for them to take us on a journey that night.
This isnt a reunion tour, this isnt a greatest hits tour, this is the tour of a band who has a new album out. Buy the fucking album or get over it! (wow, this lack of sleep is making me 'shirty the slightly aggressive kerrie')

i think you are all sucks! I went to the Vfest show yesterday & it was 10 times better than festival hall. Lucky you! Not all of us could make it to two shows! I was lucky to see the one show! I enjoyed seeing my favourite band play after being a fan for 12+ years! Guess I'm just a suck.

There was no mention of The Rose March on the set list for Festival Hall. All that was left off was the encore of Muzzle.
