Oh we saw National Treasure 2 and loved it. It was just like the first one, over the top, questionable story line, all hail the greatest country America, spys, cryptic clues, Nick Cage and his 2 facial expressions ... it was all there. hehe. But yeah, its a good film to just get lost in and take you on an adventure. We watched 88 Minutes the other day, has Pacino in it, why on earth did they make him play some bumbling Columbo type character ... it was terrible and the dialogue was really lame. Had an alright cast, but the script had holes all through it. We also watched Office Space the other day, damn I love that movie - the photocopier/printer scene ... we've all been there.

Just watched I Am Legend.
If you havent seen 28 Days Later - I highly recommend it. If you have seen 28 Days Later - expect disappointment.

Do you mean 28 Weeks Later? ... because that was slightly disappointing.
What was I Am Legend like?

I think he/she is referring to 28 Days Later, and how they are similar because he wakes up and the city is deserted?
Anyway, movies I've seen lately are: Beowulf - Awesome action and looks great in 3D Atonement - loved it. Didn't know anything about it before i saw it, but really enjoyed the story. No Country For Old Men - a fantastic, gripping thriller. P.S. I Love You - one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. I don't think its even good as a chick flick. Lucky I didn't have to pay to see it.

I am Legend:
An (unexplained) virus mutates 98% of the worlds population, causing them to fear/hate/unable to exist in the light (thats never really explained either). The new mutants become sort of vampiric/agressive, and attack/bite the remaining 2% of the population (this is sort of explained, but not reallly shown) to the point where Will Smith believes he is the last remaining human alive. The mutants are sorta agressive and dumb like in 28 Days later, but not as cool.
Essentially the movie is about Will Smith surviving by himself and his dog, trying to avoid the 'dark-seekers' and ward off insanity. Its cruising along and after an hour youre thinking - 'ok i kinda see where this is going, its not bad' then it starts getting really good - then 20 mins later its over.
Its not a horror type movie - so dont expect that. I didnt - but a mate did and he hated it.

We saw The Golden Compass on boxing day, that was great. So adorable, I just thought it was wonderful.
A few weeks ago we saw Beowulf, that was not what I expected (visually) but I did like it.
We have a buy 1 get 1 free ticket from work for P.S. I Love You as it is based on the book of the same name by Celia Ahearn, and we also have free tix for Atonement as it is an Ian McEwan book. Sometimes we get free tix like this but never for the movies we really wanna see!

I only wish! The 'P.S. I love you' ones are actually free give aways for customers who buy the book (sshhh) and the Atonement one was from a publisher night where they try and tell us about all their amazing books coming out over xmas, and then they give us copies of some of the lamest ones - and this time, a ticket to atonement.

i'm still looking forward to i am legend
if any of you are into docos (i'm nuts about them) then i highly recommend "the bridge" it is about some film makers who set up some cameras on the golden gate bridge which in turn reveals something pretty shocking incidents throughout the year

Still a good movie to watch.

When I first read about Juno I was a bit iffy about, but after I saw a trailer for it a couple of days ago, I'm thinking it might be a really good movie. Dark Knight should be most severely cool. The whole viral marketing campaign they've had going over the past few months has really brought out the Bat-Fan in me. I was a fan of the old 90's animated series back in the day and I thought Batman Begins was a fantastic way to restart the franchise, so I'm really looking forward to this movie.

I saw the Guardian the other night. Costner and Kutcher. Not bad. Not good though. It seems like they had 7 different endings in mind and instead of choosing one in particular, they did them all.

Just saw Cloverfield. It was fantastic, but I am bias towards to JJ and his work. The people in our cinema were knobs, the movie is fairly short by todays standards only 1.5hrs, but that was a good thing. Some movies are way to long these days for no reason. Also if you're a person that needs to have the movie explained to you ... don't go and see this. Its just like Lost, its done by JJ and its up you the viewer to figure it out and let your imagination go wild. So here is my thoughts: They did this so well, using the same film techinique as Blair Witch made famous, but they made this so much better with not as many "up the nose" video angles. The movie really captured the whole 'daily life' feel to it with the sub stories of each character going on before the entire city is under attack. I just loved how real this movie felt while you were watching it. I got totally lost in the story line and the confusion. So things I noticed, when it cuts back to the original tape and you see Rob and Beth on Coney Island, you see something drop into the water in the background. Could this be the monster? That was 3 weeks before the events of the night. So did anybody stay till the end of the credits? Did you hear the main character Rob say "No what? ... " ... that freaked me out. Something so simple and effective. However I read here: 1-18-08.blogspot.com/ - and you can listen to the muffled audio at the end backwards you hear Rob say "Its still alive" ... awesome. I love it. Also, im a sucker for viral marketing. There is a whole thing about the entire marketing campaign they ran. They created fake myspace accounts for each of the characters, also there is a the Japanese company that Rob goes to work for the Slusho drink company. You can read all about the viral marketing here: au.movies.ign.com/articles/845/845649p1.htmlnote - if you're going to reply, use the spoiler tags please, especially with a movie like this

I saw INVINCIBLE last night. Marky Mark is a bartender that tries out for and makes the Philadelphia Eagles squad. I generally hate Mark Whaleburger and Greg Kinnear - but this was a decent enough movie that it disguises their mediocre acting talents.
And Elizabeth Banks is mighty cute!!!!

i had a bit of a cronenberg-er fest last night & i saw videodrome & a history of violence..
also, if any of you are interested, a spanish movie called the method is pretty fantastic - seven candidates apply for a job while an anti-globalisation rally goes on in the street. much, much better than it sounds.
