bargain! i've got the 20" at work but the 17" at home, so whenever i come i feel like i'm looking watching a tiny tv. it's fine for just going online, but as soon as i try to do actual work it drives me crazy.

We've go the 20" at home and it is awesome, i love it, would never want to go back to anything less. The PC we had at home that i was going to set up for mum just died, no power going to it great price btw guys, i would love to get something like that for my mum!

libertine, probably just the power supply... 40 buck fix if its a no-brand, possibly a few hundred if its a name brand. thanks for the tip, we want the content of the hard drive, so i am glad it wont be too expensive (hopefully). Back on topic, I would love to get mum a mac because i think she would find it easier and more fun to use, but she usually just plays those cheap casino games which are like $10 for PC's. But i know that if we got her on the internet again a mac would be great for her. Do Bree's parents use their computer much?

Yeah they use it just to surf the net, print photo's and listen to music ... but its annoying when the software that comes with some camera's is so annoying to use, plus I find it completcated to use sometimes. haha. Just easier with iPhoto, iTunes and Firefox. Plus for them being on the net, sometimes they get dodgy emails from people, I've had to remove a few viruses here and there, they don't know what to click and what not. Bree's Mum is awesome on the computer though, she has picked it up really quick. So they are at that point where they want to get more into using it and their current PC isn't worth it, it was a hand me down freebie. We've been wanting to get them one for the past 3 Christmas' ... but never had the money. We thought this year, its either now or never. So we got it. So we are getting them the Mac, plus putting together a simple "How to" book. Like a simple, how to burn a CD, how to save a photo sort of guidebook featuring us should be good for a laugh. Sure this will mean that the Tech support will be soley on us now, since bree's brother doesn't use a Mac. but thats cool, its pretty much all us anyway. I keep forgetting we ordered the iMac ahah! Should have it by tomorrow or Wednesday.

has anyone here got/tried CS4? my sister is finishing up her course, so if i wanted to buy a student version under her name i've got only a few months left to do it. i've heard there's some rule about not being able to use a student version for freelance stuff though, or something weird like that - anyone know anything about this??

yeah 'techinically' you can't ... but seriously ... who will ever check? I've never had to deal with the Adobe police. I've got a copy from a mate who works for a certain company in a certain city who gave me a certain copy that is certainly legal ... *cough* I haven't installed it yet though, to busy at the moment with the packing and stuff. But I've read some great things about Dreamweaver updates ... and flash updates too!

oh cool, thanks guys i'll make sure i get it before it's too late! i haven't decided which package to get since i don't use Dreamweaver anymore, but i think i'd still like to have it just in case. and it'll be nice to be able to actually use the Adobe help without the fear of being caught having a pirate copy!
i think i need to make a trip to the Apple store in Chadstone, i need to buy something back up my imac because at the moment it's all on discs and my hard drive from work, i want something more reliable. what do you guys use?

why thankyou =)
i'm so annoyed, i opened it up to get it all set up before and it's not even fucking new! all the cords were wrapped up and everything, but the top of the actual drive is covered in scratches and scuffs, it's clearly been used before or was on display for a pretty long time. arggg, i won't be able to take it back for nearly a week either, i don't want to drive all the way to Chadstone on a weekend just for one thing. fuckers.
