yep. Ray Allen (a former sonic, the team i follow normally) is such an under rated player. He's the reason why the celtics are my 2 team and will become my one team when the sonics move to Oklohoma (man thats gonna blow goats).
People were writing him off when he went through a slump against the Hawks and Cavs, I'm so glad he proved them wrong. Garnett had another stinker by his standards. I'd love for the Cs to close it out on Monday in LA.

sonics are moving?! is there going to be a new franchise in seattle?
Yeh Ray Allen has been awesome in LA. and i DO hope as well they will win it in LA, but part of me wants them to do it in boston too with the crowd behind them. ANd i want Garnett to really come out blazing in the next match!!

In 2006, the Sonics were sold to an investment group led by Clayton Bennett, who said the team would stay in Seattle if a new arena complex was built. After poorly assembled attempts to try and get Washington state and local governments to fund a $500 million dollar arena complex in Renton, Washington, Bennett requested arbitration with the City of Seattle to be released from their lease on KeyArena[3] and notified the NBA that he wanted to relocate the team to Oklahoma City.[4] When the arbitration request was rejected by a judge, the City of Seattle sued Bennett's ownership group to force them to stay until the end of the lease.[citation needed] In April 2008, the release of some of the ownership group's internal emails showing that Bennett and some of the members were talking about moving the team to Oklahoma City prior to the purchase,[5] the city accused the ownership of failing to negotiate in good faith and former owner, Howard Schultz, filed a lawsuit to have the court take control of the team citing fraud and misrepresentation in buying the team and for breach of contract after the purchase.[6] Bennett's attorney's filed a motion accusing the city of duplicity by suing the team to make "the Oklahomans' bleed cash in a hostile media environment" and force them to sell to a local ownership group led by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.[7] The move for the 2008-2009 season was given conditional approval by the NBA Board of Governors pending the outcome of litigation over the lease and ownership of the team. There will be a court session in June,16 to determine if the Sonics can move to Oklahoma City or if they will be forced to stay in Seattle.[8][9]
So its going to be a whole Charlotte/New Orleans fiasco.

Not that i'll give away a spoiler, but i agree about teams winning it on their home floor, just makes the occasion seem so much bigger when there's thousands of people going crazy.

Yeah definately steve, and to be honest Lakers will really have to step up if they are going to win at the Garden, three fairly unconvincing games at staples. Gave up a 19 point lead early on again. Boston always start strong early on their own court.
Pierce should get MVP of the series even if the Lakers win the next 2 games, he was so Immense today

Glad the C's will win it on their home floor, and to see the three superstars finally get a title is great.
Lakers way out of their league you would have to say.

The NBA draft took place this morning. Nathan Jawai, who played for Cairns, was picked up at pick 41 by the Indiana Pacers.
There is a trade in the works between Indiana and Toronto which currently doesn't involve Jawai, but there is a lot of speculation. Complicated stuff i won't go into.
Being pick up in the second round of the draft as he has, means nothing. Picks 1-30 (the first round) have guaanteed contracts, everyone from there on goes to training camp without the guarantee of being kept. Indiana could sign him and sent him to Europe to delep his game, or simply cut ties after the summer.
Foxy - another trade rumor is David Lee to Charlotte and Ray Felton to New York. If this happened, could it be bye bye Marbury? I hope so.
Ike Diougu and Jarrett Jack were traded for each other as well as Richard Jefferson going to Milwaukee for Yi Jianlain (sp?) and Bobby Simmonds.

yeah the draft is really interesting. Sonics opting with youth, I'd like to see a couple of solid veterins come into the fold. Its pretty worrying. I think the judge makes their decision on the whole key arena lease soon.

Well
Not a good day for basketball fans with the licence for Seattle going to Oaklahoma City. 40 years of Seattle Supersonics basketball ends - The history, name and jersey stays in Seattle, Oaklahoma start fresh.
I've been looking in a lot of places today (realgm, the seattle times) and there is so much emotion being poured out over this. Basically the owner, Clay Bennett, took over a couple of seasons ago and is now taking the licence to his hometown.
Foxy has been/is a Sonics supporter, you have to be especially pissed off man.
I've heard all sorts of things like Kevin Durant (The teams up and coming star) saying he will not play in Oaklahoma to Bennett saying he will have replica Banners/Trophys created for the Seattle fans, which is pretty heartless i think.
For those that don't really know, it's a pretty dark day for Basketball

oh my god! Thats terrible, the Sonics where always my second team after the Bulls in the day, the Payton and Kemp days where the greatest.
Its funny how easy that can happen in the states, imagine if it happened with the AFL.

Something i though of when i was reading about it and seeing all these photos of people rallying to stop it was the Fitzroy Lions. Seattle were around for 41 years. Fitzroy for over 100.
I guess it just shows how much of a business the NBA really is.

So today is the day I become a total Boston Celitcs fan. I'll be cheering for Durant, Wilcox and Ridnour (my favourite players from the current squad) in the same way I wanted the Celtics and the Magic to do well this season (for Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis respectively).
I'm totally devestated. It's funny I stopped following the basketball for probably 10 years, then got back into it hardcore for the past 3 years and yeah this really sucks. Cs were always my second team, Rick Fox, what a genius.

Gilbert Arenas signed on with the wizards for $111 million over six years (he reckons he's the bee's knees because he was offered 127 but said nah i'll do it for 111, what a good bloke )
Clay Bennet spent $162 million campaigning to get the sonics out of Seattle. He was ok to spend that much on trying to move out, but if he put that into a total revamp of KeyArena, the sonic's would have been able to stay in Seattle and generate profit. OR EVEN IF HE honoured the lease of KeyArena til 2012, then pissed off, $167 million could have been spent on veteren players like Arena's or the miriad of other veterens available as free agents and maybe had a push at the title. Title pushes bring more support from the community, more TV coverage which equals more advertising revenue which could mean more profit....
Obviously I'm pissed off that the sonics are going to OKC, but what pisses me off so much is the decision was made by Bennet the second he took over. He claims he did everything possible to keep the sonics in Seattle, which is total shit.
If I were Kevin Durant, I'd be looking to get out of the Sonics, with no vets and an unsettled team ALL the pressure will be on him. He's only 19 and has no one to learn from, he could be the next LeBron if he was at another team.

Bennett has no soul. There are rumors doing the rounds that Durant has called him a "fat arse" and slammed him numberous times, hehe.

well Durant dominated an under strength Orlando for OKC in the summer league.
Elton Brand to Philly, I reckon thats a good move for both parties. more importanly, Jermain O'neil to the raptors. O'Neil and Bosh is a mouthwatering combo. Throw in dead eye Kapano and they could make it past the first round next season. THe deal that sent O'Neil to Toronto also saw Aussie Nathan Jawai to the raptors. It's gonna be pretty tough for him to make a big impact with the forwards they currently have on their roster.

I think he will spend some time in Europe, which isn't a bad thing really.
Brand to the Sixers is pretty big for them, with Miller, Iguodala and Dalambert plus the younger guys, they move to a potentially mid table playoff team i think, and with the East getting weaker, could do a bit of damage. Phily needed a scorer to help the two main guys and Brand has averaged 20 points in his career
Bad signs? Well, i suppose if his body fails him...I thought Ben Gordon would have been a good fit as a pure scorer, but Brand is a safe bet if he stays healthy.
The Clippers? Well they would probably feel a little burned, they went out and got him a Point Guard (easily the biggest coup they have had) and then he ops to leave...Corey Magette is going also (to Golden State) and they have released Livingstone, Dan Dikau, Smush Parker and a couple of other guys, so i can see them making a run at Gordon, Josh Smith or James Posey.
The two guys i'm keen to watch are Andris Beidrins and Monta Ellis, both free agents at Golden State, with Davis gone, no doubt they will throw Ellis a big contract which ou think he would take, Beidrins...who knows, he gives them 10 points and 9.8 rebounds in 23 mins of play and is just 22 - Someone is going to take him if they don't.
