Posey is gonna stay at the celtics. He wants to, Celtics want him to, the only factor is $ and if Magette signs elsewhere the Cs will give Posey their full mid level exception.
Just on Posey, I'm a big fan and hope he stays at the Cs, good offensively and great on the defense.

Posey to New Orleans, good move for them. Might top the west if Paul has a similar season to this year.

Yeah looking forward to this one, on paper we are going to get smoked (Team USA doesn't muck around anymore), but as long as we run some good plays and have a good showing, it's going to be ok.
Was impressed to see us only go down to 4 to Argentina the other day, they have Scola, Ginobili and Nocioni all playing and considering out national league is the equal of a car crash at the moment, it was some nice news to have.

well we were leading for the first half and then bogut got injured and we struggled against Argentina.
We put in a good showing agains the Yanks, our D was great. I reckon they could be the suprise packet of the competition.

Yeah good showing, some really good things to take out of that. Some HORRIBLE calls i think, Ref's star stuck maybe?
Some negatives were the way we handled the full court pressure and the movement around the perimiter was sometimes a bit sloppy. But overall, you can't be upset with an 11 point loss to a side like them (even though they appeared to be cruising for the most part)
CJ looked solid and Pat Mills coming off the bench as a high energy player was good. Anstey probably shouldsn't shoot so many threes! Here's to Argentina and Spain taking it right up to the USA, and more importantly, our Boomers earning some respect and getting Aussie basketball back on it's feet!

OK so I'm bumping this because the new season starts in a week.
Go Celtics, I'm really excited because apparently Ray Allen was struggling with his ankles alot last year. Doc reckons there'll be some more play centred around him, which is good...
Can a healthy Andrew Bynum lift the lakers to the top? Will OKC win a game, I hope they fail miserably and have to move back to Seattle.

Wow, NBA thread is back!
I just can't believe the season is almost here
Looking forward to seeing Portland this season actually. And hopefully The Lakers are back up there again. The odd thing is, although they're my team, theres other sides i'm looking forward to watching more, i guess that's the way it can sometime be in the NBA.

I think Philly can push for home court advantage this year if it all comes together. Really nice looking team now on paper. Will watch them closely.

Not long to go now! As a long time Portland fan there are high expectations for this season but at the same time I still think they are a few years off winning a play off series, let alone a championship. Lost a couple of keys players over the off season. The west is tough. But there sure is some young talent there! A trip to LA first up..nothing beats knocking off those lakers

In ANBA news just went and saw the blaze lose to the breakers in a very close game, only lost by a point. still no suprise that the gold coast lost, but at least they are starting to show some form.

So it's agreed, we both hate Al? haha kidding champ And yes, the Blaze were unlucky by the looks of things, Shane Heal is cursed i tell you! Another loss for my sixers - I'm not overly worried because i think the second half of the year will be the key when the team starts to gel, plus injuries are killing us, but need to start winning...soon!!

haha first the bays-panthers and now this In reality - We should probably hate each other mate, haha Hahaha. At least you don’t play footy/cricket for Onka Valley, then it would be much much worse My dislike of the Lakers stems from around 1997, when they put Portland out of the playoffs 5 times in 6 years, the most famous of those series being in 2000. Pity about Seattle really. Portland always enjoyed a healthy rivalry with them, and the ‘sonics’ are a name I have always associated with the nba.

Hehe really?
The Lakers-Blazer rivalry was an interesting one back in those days (Also the Knicks-Heat one which strated a couple of yeas before that)
Poor Seattle fans, you can see how much it will hit them once the season proper hits and they aren't there. So do you guys think Seattle will get a new fanchise? The Sonics will eventually go back? Another team will relocate there?
I can't see a 31st team coming in. Hopefully OKC are back there at some stage.

City of Seattle has 5 years before their exclusion of using the 'Supersonics' franchise expires. So if say Memphis or the Bobcats continue to be shit and have to move, If seattle win that franchise than the Supersonics will back in Seattle. Also New Orleans have the worst attendence record in the NBA so while they are doing well, they are a shot too. I can really see Memphis moving though.
In any event, if a team does not return to Seattle within 5 years then Clay Bennet owes them anotehr 20 mil. Best Case scenario, OKC fail miserably, Durant becomes a free agent after next season, goes somewhere else and dominates and the thunder move back to Seattle to become the sonics.
Although the sonics lost alot last year, their wins were memorable. Durant hit a couple of buzzer beaters to beat teams like Denver and Atlanta... I for one will really miss them.

It won't feel right, i have relocations and the like
If Durnat can improve his shooting percentage - OMG. It should happen.

I read today that TEN HD will become a 24hr a day sports channel!! One of the sports that they have bought the rights for is the NBA Not having foxtel, I have been starved of NBA footage during the 2000s. Even just one or two games a week would be fantastic. Having seen my nbl team go under (not once, but twice....), I can relate to Seattle fans or fans of any defunct club. You try your best to keep an eye on the happenings of the league, might follow the fortunes of certain ex players of your club, but as they months and years progress your interest in the league drops away. Well that is what happened with me. Por @ LAL tomorrow...thankfully my line of work allows me to keep my eye on the box scores

easy win for the Lakers...
I was lucky enough to catch the Cavs/Boston game, great second half from them. Good win considering Ray Allen and Garnett has stinkers by their standards... Tony Allen looked great.

An inglorious start to the season for Portland and Oden in particular. Never a good sign when your rookie (technically still a rookie I think) walks and looks like a 40yo!
The Lakers far too good
