Weird. Sold out on Ticketek and SP.com. Is it wrong that I'm hoping the Perth show gets moved to a smaller venue ...

Who has been listening to the latest shows/keeping up on setlists etc? I was down on everything they were doing last tour, but this time I'm not as clued in. I don't really want to hear recent bootlegs so as not to spoil it when I do see them. But having said that, from what I have heard, I am looking forward to it!

Is it just me or does the Adelaide venue look like a school hall?

It does, but I guess most large venues do with they have the lights on.

I would love to buy your Sydney ticket Wombat for that price I may as well get it off a scalper! Would you consider selling it for cost price?

haha womabt, that is some bullshit. are you a fan or what? if you're a fan you'd offer it at cost price... I have a sydney ticket by the way, I'm not saying this for any other reason than the fact that it shocked me that you would try and get more money for a ticket than you paid...

Well I just dropped the price a bit. You happy now? You guys think mine is expensive well you should look at some of the dreamers on Ebay.com.au. Some are nearly double what I was asking for. C'mon it's worth a try for a sold out show as there are die hard fines who will pay decent money. You should look at what some Metalica fans are paying...like $500 a ticket!! Since when do only non hardcore fans re-sell tickets for more than cost price anyway!!?? And thanks sunkissed ummm yes if you really want to know....I am a fan! I am a big fan actually since 93', just like you I have all their albums and singles etc. many t-shirts been through the ups and downs thru the years but always luv their music past & present and seen them twice in 96 and 08. I listen and follow them just about everyday! How much of a fan do you think I am based on the cost of a ticket, give me a break please! Don't believe me then look at this... youtube.com/user/pumpkinhead1977

Yeah, I find it interesting (and the comment on the article left by Pants/Blue_June) pretty much sums it up, that they are still focusing on who is in the band ... rather that an article about one of the biggest musical stars of the last 20 years giving his music away for free.
Whether it is good, worse than his older stuff or whatever ... the fact that an artist is doing this and it gets like a single paragraph. Pfft.

^ True
I guess the good news is that at least some mainstream Aussie media outlets are promoting the Pumpkins' music and the tour (even if the tone is less than enthusiastic)

Oh yeah for sure, Im guessing Frontier have been arranging these to help promote the tour. Compare it to when they were with Warner and part of the V fest there was hardly any coverage. It was interesting how Billy mentions that in the article too, how no people from Warner were at any of the shows.

Don't believe me then look at this... youtube.com/user/pumpkinhead1977Ahh don't sweat it Wombat, nobody is questioning whether or not you are a fan, it's just that some people get a bit snarky with ticket scalpers y'know, by this we mean those who deliberately snap up tickets specifically to make a quick buck ripping off the fans. I have never had to resell a ticket i didn't need before, but i too would be tempted to whack a couple bucks on it just so it went to a true fan. Also a pity you are not coming to Aus, would have been cool to catch up.

i hope the ticket doesn't sell. who the fuck are you to expect to make money for nothing? if you really want it to sell, you'd be selling it at face value. you're just being greedy.

+1 - there have been posts on this site about how members here missed out on tickets to the sydney show and then you advertise a ticket for sale above cost price and wish people to bid on them, raising it's cost price above its original value because it has sold out...that means you've taken a good thing like a smashing pumpkins show and made it about your own personal gain. If you have found a way to reconcile your own financial gain in relation to what kind of a fan you are of the band then I think that you must realise that the moment you did it was the moment you had to sacrifice your status as a fan.

This is bullshit!!!I am not greedy!! And I am not doing it for my personal gain. In fact it is they buyers gain cos they get to enjoy the show. Why the fuck should you care how much someone is selling or buying a ticket for? There are big fans who are willing to pay good money cos they might of missed out on getting a ticket for whatever reason. I'm not even selling it for that much more than cost price anyway. Even so, some people don't care how much they pay they just wanna see their favourite band. Yeah the status of me being a fan has been downgraded to what? A half fan because of a ticket price!! For fucks sake! I am a big fan cos I like the band and their music not anything else. If anything I'm more of a fan now! I completely disagree with you guys. And I don't really care what you think. You probably have a ticket for one of their shows so just go and enjoy it!! Is this not something that people do in Australia cos in NZ people don't ask questions or call them scalpers, degrade them or say they mustn't be a fan! They just buy the fucking ticket for 2x, 3x or 4x more than the cost price, pay their money and enjoy the fucking show!!! There were several Metallica fans who paid over $700 for 1 ticket here in NZ. Not all do though, it's a personal choice not your choice...you're not the seller! Some chose to sell for cost price some don't. Who cares?? Gees Louise, I'm glad I'm not going to Sydney anymore cos I'd probably only meet corrupt SP fans! Those who disagree with me also probably think Billy was a sell out when he gave "Today" to Visa! He might of done it for the money which is probably not much compared to what he has anyway. But the real reason is to gain more fans who might not of heard of them. This only makes the world a better place! Call him what you want but he can do what the fuck he wants just like I can. I say no more!

pet hate of mine is using 'of' in place of 'have'. should've not should of.
but i don't want this to get in the way of the awesome discussion going on here.
but seriously though, you don't have a problem with someone buying a ticket without the intention of going to the concert, just to sell the ticket once its sold out to make a profit?

Meh. Your choice to sell it for the price you want and choice for somebody to pay that amount. Me personally if I can't make a show I sell it for price I paid to break even or even just give it away to a friend for free so it doesn't go to waste. Even though I could sell it for more and people would pay more, I'd feel wrong doing it. That's me though.
Bonno - I've put a bunch of videos up on ozphoria.com along with some links to cool recordings off the Live Music Archive. Some great reworks, I can't wait to hear Eye.

isn't it actually illegal to sell a ticket for higher than cost?
and you're selling it at almost double cost. twenty bucks i could stomach, for your registered post the first time + handling fee from ticketmastertek + postage to its new owner.
this is just profiteering

@wombat: Not much more needs to be said, as I claimed in an earlier post: "If you have found a way to reconcile your own financial gain in relation to what kind of a fan you are of the band..." then I guess there is no point talking about it anymore. bonno: Yeah I've been keeping up with the shows, it has been interesting hearing the same songs being played over the tour and how certain parts will be extended or emphasised, the band continue to sound great and watching some of the videos that are out there confirms my excitement for the Aus tour! Plus it's awesome to see tour posters around Melbourne!
