why josh? I'm sure you are more than welcome to organise a melbourne event if you want to - in the meantime i know from speaking to jimmy in person that we are both totally up for this. And we were even thinking of an ozphoria band doing a cover, i mean - steve is a drummer, jimmy and i both play guitar, jessy has a bass we can use, and she has offered her vocals if we want. Jimmy and i are very excited The possibilities are endless!

Wow guys after one suggestion this is really starting to snowball into something ... exciting! Alright so what we did in the past was this: - Kept door prices down as low as we could, we had a good deal with the venues where they only took $1 from each person through the door. We took $1 and each band got $1. Thats what it was all about, getting as many people in there and making it a fun cheap night out. - We printed up CD's to give away to the first 50 people through the door, an insentive to get people there early. First night we gave away copies of CR05 from the Metro, Second night was the recording of the Billy in the Hotel room from 1991 with the 5 songs. Alot of people loved that. - Between bands we just had a mix of SP songs playing, I just burnt a mixed disc of stuff and had that playing ... days before iPods. Guess we could just hook an iPod up to the sound system and have it randomly playing SP stuff. - One mistake we made was not recording both nights through the soundboard. - As for choosing the bands, we did a shout out and got them to get back to us with some of their songs, and the songs they wanted to cover. Each band was expected to play 3-4 covers and the rest originals, this was as much about these bands as it was about the Pumpkins. We made sure each band wasn't covering the same songs, also made sure there was a mix of songs ... so we didn't end up with the bands covering just the hits. - Each band played for about 30-45mins, with a 20min gap between each one. We had a total of 4 acts for the first night, 3 for the second night. One thing I always wanted to do was maybe a "quiz" section ... you know pic 3 people out of the crowd and have some sort of giveaway. Also we could do this as a charity night, like the guys did with Act IV ... if the bands are willing to play for free or at some sort cut, or something else I guesss ... Look if you guys are happy to organise it, we'd be more than happy to put Ozphoria's name to it and we would appreciate it ... SO MUCH ... as you can imagine. If its next year, we should be able to afford to fly over ... I'd love it to be on the 7th of July, obviously

Another important date would be end of this year sometime ... for the 20th anniversary dates.

yeah its so exciting that we wish it was asap but it will take a lot of planning, so perhaps we should put some feelers out, see who we know that would be interested - see what gaps are left to fill, Get venue costs etc and then look at how long it will take to get all of this together. If next year means to more ozphorians will be able to head over, then i am all for that! Simon, you have already bought up some points that it would have taken me ages to think of! And scott, there will be a triangle in every song if thats what you wanna play buddy Also, I was thinking about where any money made may go. I mean, we will most likely have to cover a lot of costs that will be associated with it. But perhaps we could raffle off a few items for a charity, I mean, we may be lucky and be able to find some rare items that people may be interested in. who knows. I thought, seeing as it would (with permission) be an ozphoria event, i would love to have wristbands to give out or sell - and for some of the profit to be able to make the board ad-free for as long as possible...as well as having a charity for profits to go to.

Ok, scott shall be slotted in for tales of a scorched earth triangle solo. lol, we were just kinda joking bout an ozphoria band, and how in the percieved spirit of the pumpkins the whole event would turn into a vanity project Ill have a talk to lisa from twenty twenty management, see if we can book out fowlers and talk about prices. July 7th is a tuesday night... its also a full moon woo. But i guess the 4th or the 11th if we want to have it round then. I spoke to peter asking him if such an event took place if he'd want to play and he seemed enthusiastic so if you want them theyll be more than happy to play id say, he said at least he'd like to break out some acoustic stuff... I can think of a couple of other adelaide bands that i think would probably be interested but i dunno if there was any bands people were thinking would fly over or whatever... great ideas with the raffle and quiz stuff!!

Maybe that should be "Hair Guitar"! Yeah - i'm willing to do whatever I can from over here. Obviously not booking venues and stuff - but if something can be remotely done - i'll put the hand up. Maybe I could make/organise some T-Shirts/other merch to flog on the night? Heres a quick little potential suggestion... You know what - im bloody dirty i didnt suggest this tribute night earlier!

So who organised what last time?
Can Sunks or who ever it was start putting a list together of all the tasks that need to have worker bees assigned to them - then we can start fishing for volunteers and assigning work.

Ok, so we'll need to have the bands slotted in before we can book the venue, but this is where i was thinking would be good: www.fowlerslive.com.au/about.htmlIt holds 500, which should be plenty big enough id have thought. Some stuff i thought was worth noting in the conditions of hire: . we cant record the gig unless we get written approval from them, . By hiring we agree the event will comply with all releveant laws and regs- ie copyright and intellectual property. Obviously this wouldnt be an issue if a band just popped out the odd coverbut seeing as the specific purpose of the event is to play covers do we need to pay a fee or anything like that? Or get Billy to write us a nice note saying we can use his songs teehee. . We need to let them know about signage and lighting plots 7 days prior to the event, and cant grant signage or sponsership to a third party without written approval- dont think this is really an issue, wasnt sure though. . We are allowed to sell merch without them taking a cut but we cant sell food, drink etc. . Any advertising has to have the name of the venue, address and ph #; they will put ads in street press and distribute up to 100 posters free of charge, we need to take care of the rest obviously. .. thats about all, we need to supply someone to mind the door, and we have to supply the venue with 20 tickets to do whatever with... it also says we cant alter the building or erect any structures without their approval ( *pause in which someone can insert innappropriate comment*), but i assume that doesnt include minor stage props, so long as they arent causing any danger The full terms are here : www.fowlerslive.com.au/venue.htmldown the bottom of the page, with application form and such... If we decide to go with them then ill email them to clarify some of that, just thought id post it to keep you guys up to date, see if there was anything else i hadnt thought of that might be an issue

jimmy, nice work. Can i just say that it is sad that the venue only holds 500 seeing at that was where The Buzzcocks and The Breeders have both played, and both deserve a bigger audience than that (off topic Black Francis is playing HQ soon Jimmy).
Anyway, Todd had a tops idea about job allocation. I would really like to do some merch or signage or something but if there is anyone else is would rather do it, then i wont stand in anyones way. Though i am sure we can have a few people working on it.

haha, I think we are all enthusiastic and getting organised on our own, but not really collectively yet. That is why I thought this would perhaps help us gather all our thoughts and info in the one place.
As for help from you and bree, I think at the moment we are fine, but dont start to think for a second that we aint gonna hit you two up for help later! haha. You both have the most valuable assets of all - experience.
