ahhh sydney was a sweet gig, way better than last time they came out...just more vibe this time. its good to see billy happy and wanting to play.
it was so fricken loud though... my ears are ringing. i hate when that happens!
Gossamer was sweet, it was too much for some poor peeps who passed out right at the end... i hope they're ok.
I got excited when they brought out the marshal jcm900 for the encore, i thought they were going to play something off gish...alas it was a vines cover, of get free. still it was pretty fun.
I recorded most of the show on my little portable recorder but didnt really worry about where i was and stuff so it didnt turn out as good as it mightve. if anyone is interested, send me a pm or something. and ill upload it.

Yeap, loved it so much more than 2007 when they came out.
The setlist flowed so well, loved as rome burns, zero, ava, drown, song for a son.... billy was in fine form, seemed to actually want to be out on stage and he gave it his all, was great to see.
Probs one of the best gigs ive been to in a while, restores my faith in the pumpkins.
And yes it was loud... my ears are ringing aswell. hahah,,, but i aint complaining.
Great night!

Oh and loved the vines coming out to play in the encore... 'get free'. Added something to the night i think.
And a 20 minute gossamer to fininsh the show... so smashing pumpkins. Thats why we love them, no other band would do that shit. Love it.

Pretty awesome show! Plenty of hits, new songs were all great, the Vines cover was a good bit of fun.
I'm still not convinced on Mike though. And I cant think of a weaker way of ending such a good show than Gossamer.
That 5 hours or so lineup in the cold was brutal!

What an awesome show. I gave to agree with the volume. a tat high but not really complaining. The lights were very bright too!!!
Gotta agree with everyone that the mood and the gig was better than last time. The Gong was awesome too.
Might not agree with The vines coming out, I've never heard landslide played live and was looking forward to it. I really wanted to hear Eye as well...
Some personal fav Tarantula, BWBW, Zero, spangled and one of my favorite songs.... Drown.
My friend text me, was he not kidding about the 30mins song?
I replied, for you, be grateful it's not the 1hour version... oh that would have been sweet.... Gosammer!!!!
I heart SP
I kinda regret not buying the new t-shirt now. sad face
oh and lovely to see all you pumpkin heads...

*feels a bit behind since everyone is talking about Sydney now, but anyway* I was at the Melbourne show on Friday..And I guess SP is the first real rock concert I've been to, and it definitely won't be the last! Loved every second, except for the grumpy old couple behind my friend and I (we had seats) that told us to sit down literally every time we stood up, even though pretty much everyone in our area was standing but them (and us!) But when Bullet started the atmosphere was just too much to keep sitting there, so we went off the started dancing in the aisle with some drunk people, funny times.
Didn't think much of the support act at all..I can think of about 20 bands that would've jumped at the chance to tour with the Pumpkins and also would've been a lot better than City Riots were!
I also didn't like the fact that my friend and I had about 20 people come up to us and say that we couldn't possibly be real Pumpkins fans because we're so young (we're both 15). Some of them seemed really offended...Obviously they're the ones who want music to be supressed in one era and don't like the fact that music they like is still appealing to younger people..Meh.
Still loved the show though! Definite highlight was only having to wait 30 minutes at the stage door in the freezing Melbourne wind to see Billy! Shame he didn't sign anything or really made much interaction with the 20 or 25 people that had stayed around though, got a wave out of him at least

Just got back from Brisbane show.
Astral/ava/today/love is winter/eye/cherub/zero/siyl/shame/freak/bullet/US/spangled/song for a son/tonight/tarantula stitch in time/stumbline/disarm gossamer
Band were on fire, great performance, great energy. Crowd were respectful toward the band, but seriously, full of drunk idiots. Rather annoying.

No worries Sunky. Love is Winter was pretty great. Just fyi, there was a Get Free tease during Tarantula, and the acoustic songs were the first encore. Gossamer was the second encore, and it was rather intense.

Ive been reading some reviews, i kinda wish i was at the tivoli show, sounds like the highlight of the tour. having said that nothing will take away the memories of the perth show, especially catching up with some very close friends whom i have not seen in a while.
in other news I HATE PEOPLE, some of the responses that poeple have been making in terms the concert reviews, of the pumpkins and billy being outdated... wtf he is not cheese... i repeat HE IS NOT FUCKING CHEESE... go back to listening to your pop songs on your commercial radio stations and let the man do his thing.
(kinda boarded on being the guy defending britany spears on youtube, didnt i :S)

Yeah totally! Speaking of first gigs, mine was Smashing Pumpkins MCIS tour 1996 (except for a small supergroove concert) Still holds the top rank of best show ever and I have seen pretty much every major 90's act around. They were exceptional that night. Truly jaw dropping.

i went to the Melbourne & Brisbane shows, both were great but Brisbane definitely one. it was just so good to see them on such a small stage in contrast to festival hall, i was front row and it was just this huge wall of sound in your face for 2.5 hours, it was so good. from what i can remember we heard That's The Way during sound check, i think that's the only song that wasn't played during the set we heard sound checked. we were walking to some guys in line in front of us and they got into the M&G at the last minute, they said Billy was wondering what to play between Today & Eye and he called out My Love Is Winter, and Billy said something like "i forgot about that song, good idea" and he signed the set list and gave it to him. one thing that i don't think i've seen mentioned yet is that at the Brisbane show Billy hardly spoke a word for the entire show. the only time he said anything more than a couple of words (eg "hello Brisbane") was when he asked the crowd if they knew the city was famous for hot chicks. we couldn't help but wonder if it was because Jess, Lisa & their mum were watching or what, but it was a bit odd. i managed to win the M&G with Faster Louder for Melbourne, i'm not sure if that's cos they know i'm a fan or just because they thought my answer to the question was funny but i don't mind, haha. it was great to be able to watch sound check, i think my bf enjoyed that part the most to see how they work out songs as a band. i'm still going through photos, but here's what's up so far - www.flickr.com/photos/de-tec-tive/sets/72157617905641684/with/5093189038/

We pretty much just told them that we'd do whatever we liked and if they didn't like it they should go back to the old peoples home...We were trying not to swear since two of our teachers just "happened" to be sitting two seats away! haha

I had a friend Marianne attend Brisbane to capture some video on her 5D I think they put her in the balcony near the VIP. Like Bec, she's still going through photo's but this one is awesome. She will link the set on her flickr once she's done.

If I'd realised earlier that you were going to brisbane I could have added you to the list she was on.
