hmmm, don't know about the 'tonight, tonight' linked above. Seemed very rushed to me, like Billy couldn't get it over with fast enough. It really lost it's ability to grab and hold you.

Glad everyone had a good time, like Simon said, i think haveing the people from here around will make it all extra special. And hooray for that setlist! Dude - Ozphoria Sydney crew just went and got drunk together ... nearly as good as a SP gig! ... actually its the same amount of awesome.

Ughh that post on the BDO forum makes me so angry! That person is a knob. They say they arrived at 8 and the band was already well into their set. Bullshit; they came on just after 8pm. They say people were booing Billy. Bullshit; from where we were (barrier in front of Jeff) we didn't hear any booing. What a moron.

Wow, that bdo review was really terrible. Sure there weren't many people jumping around, i wasn't, but that's just because i didn't want to take my eyes off Billy for a second and i didn't want to distract myself from the music. And they were booing him because he said thats the end of the show. Anyone get the feeling he was watching a completely different concert? What a jerk.

To be honest, I couldn't have asked for more the other night. Sure there are some things I would have liked to have seen differently, buts thats half the fun of it, the unpredictability of it all. There will always be people who don't get Billy's humor, or who are offended by it, but I definitely think they are a small minority. Everyone around me in the crowd the other night looked like they were having an awesome time. Sure they weren't jumping around the whole gig, but what that crowd lacked in energy, it made up for it in attentiveness and appreciation. It seemed pretty clear to me that Billy understands the fact that he isn't the best front man in terms of really bonding with the crowd, but what he lacked in that department he more than made up for with the amount of energy and passion he put into the performance. I was blown away by the amount of effort the whole band put into the gig. I haven't ever really seen anything like it. It was an honour to have been there.

I can understand some of the criticisms in the BDO review, the crowd was VERY sedate, but the criticisms of the band are completely unfounded. I thought Billy was in a great mood all night, he was very talkative at points, he was enthusiastic during the performance, to echo one of the posts here - was that guy watching a different concert to the rest of us?
Anyway there is no need to bother with the opinions of morons like that.
Thanks to everyone who posted bootlegs, I'd love to see some more songs from the source you posted "neverchange", they are the best quality recordings I've seen of the concert so far.

Hey guys, we have some videos up on our youtube channel now: www.youtube.com/ozphoriaWe are uploading more as we go, but yeah, internet in hotels suck, so its taking a while. A great one of Billy's speech before 1979! Plus I got his speech before Cherub Rock too, with the whole Doors tease and everything - sounds great! That will be up later.

I can understand some of the criticisms in the BDO review, the crowd was VERY sedate DO YOU THINK THE BAND REALLY WANT HIGH ENERGY CROWD. Think about it, 2 people have died at their own concerts, they have played at roskilde and other festivals where several people have been seriously injured, and VFEST was a disgrace during qotsa I though the crowd was great on thursday, was comfortable for the punters and the band did love it. Jimmy himself said that they really enjoyed the show on thursday (I HEARD IT WITH MY OWN TWO EARS). Theres a difference between a non moshing crowd and an unaprecciative one. It's not like no one clapped at the end of their songs or didnt sing along.

yeah that must play on their minds all the time. I wonder if they are really paranoid about rough crowds now.

Dunno what you mean by super high quality - but thats probably as good as it gets. Focus isnt good - for that i blame on being on the rail and having everyone behind me. That and I am a bit of a gimp with a camera. Plus the lights moving all the time messed me around

I'm from Melbourne and I also thought the Sydney crowd sucked.
The band were great and the songs sounded fantastic, but the crowd's lack of excitement threw me a bit. Still had a great time, but I hope the Adelaide and Melbourne crowds are better.
